COVID19 Preventive Measures

Pipetting Samples

Service and segregation in a non hospital-based imaging center
Our imaging centres will offer services to all types of patients, sometimes using the same equipment, in the same room, by the same staff. In these circumstances the goal is not only to reduce the risk of infection to staff, but also to reduce the risk of cross infection among staff and patients. Therefore, patients must be segregated according to their risks.

Case screening

  • All patient should fill in health declaration form.

  • ALL request for CT thorax should be screened by the Clinical Director.

  • Any queries on booking SHOULD be diversified to the centre I/C or the Clinical Director to decide the proper patient risk group.

Designation of patient risk
Although our centres have a variable case mix in designated non-hospital based buildings, all staff performing imaging examinations on all patients should take the SUITABLE personal infection control measures irrespective of the patient’s risk group. This means wearing mask (either surgical mask / N-95 mask), frequent handwashing, proper working clothes (including gowns) and social distancing.

There are 2 categories of patients attending our imaging centers:

Intermediate: Patients without suspected COVID-19
High:  Patients with suspected COVID-19

The highest infection control measures must be taken for the patients in the high risk group while lower precautions can be taken for the intermediate group.

Segregation of patients
There are two ways patient can be segregated, time and location.

Time

Our centers will be constrained by the number of equipment and layout. The suitable way to segregate some patients will be by time.  A dedicated timeslot should be allocated for high risk patients.

Location
Try to site the patients and relatives in different zones to achieve social distancing.
Waiting areas and patient access will have to be segregated also.

General infection control guidelines for staff

  • Ensure you are acquainted with general infection control guidelines and protocols. Keep yourself updated!

  • Daily temperature check and records.

  • Take note of each patients risk category. Wash your hands before and after touching patients.

  • Try to have social distancing with staff and patients.

  • Dispose of masks and contaminated apparel in designated sites.

  • Avoid eating or drinking in clinical places.

  • Take sick leave and see a doctor if you develop symptoms.

These guidelines will need to be continually reviewed and updated as required.
